Course Objectives

On completion of the course, the delegates will have developed a practical and theoretical understanding in:

  • Mechanical ventilation techniques
  • Compartment fire behaviour
  • Natural ventilation techniques

They will also have taken part in several practical exercises as both a delegate and an instructor.

Assessment Design

Assessment will take the form of written subjective examination based upon course objectives and practical assessment, with the resulting mark being based upon data gathered by training staff during practical exercise scenarios. Students will receive both a theoretical and practical mark and these marks will be collated to provide each delegate with an overall grade.

Course Criteria

The course has been designed to introduce qualified general instructors to all aspects of tactical ventilation and progress them onto instructor level. The course is very practical orientated and as such, delegates must be capable of wearing breathing apparatus in hot fire conditions.

Delegates attending the course should be physically fit and qualified in the use of Breathing Apparatus. It is advisable that delegates should contact their doctor or occupational health department for a physical check-up, as this is a physically and mentally demanding course.
