Course Objectives

On completion of the course, the delegates will have developed a practical and theoretical understanding in:

  • Principles of combustion, fire development within compartments
  • Methods to deal with and prevent fire development
  • Safety procedures relating to CFBT
  • Demonstrate firefighting techniques and respond to carbonaceous fire conditions
  • Conduct a CFBT session

Assessment Design

Assessments will take the form of written assessment, discussion and practical observations. Each delegate will also be required to design and deliver a CFBT training session on a skills area.

Course Criteria

The course has been designed to introduce qualified general instructors to all aspects of compartment fire behaviour training and progress them onto instructor level. The course is very practical orientated and as such, delegates must be capable of wearing breathing apparatus in hot fire conditions.

Delegates attending the course should be physically fit and qualified in the use of Breathing Apparatus. It is advisable that delegates should contact their doctor or occupational health department for a physical check-up, as this is a physically and mentally demanding course.
